Renewable vs Nonrenewable
Renewable energy sources can be replenished in a short period of time. The most frequently referred to renewable energy sources include hydropower, solar, wind and geothermal. When referring to "photovoltaic solar electricity", here are the positives & negatives:

Positives:
  • Unlimited supply
  • Natural source of captured energy
  • No by-products
  • Does not require depletion of a natural resource to capture
  • Not reliant on foreign providers
  • Does not degrade human and environmental health

Negatives:

  • Influenced by geographic area
  • Limited capture time in 24 hours
  • Reliant on weather conditions
  • Cost intensive to purchase
  • Not aggressively promoted nor endorsed by the US government (unlike oil, coal, nuclear)

Solutions:

  • Solar electricity can be supplemented by alternative energy sources including traditional energy methods to overcome the short-falls due to limited daytime, inconsistent weather or geography.
  • As with all technology, costs will be driven down with greater consumer demand. FreEner-g's leasing makes solar energy financially accessible to more people, therefore creating greater demand.
  • Increased public awareness, interest and demand will push for greater government initiatives towards renewable energy sources.
Nonrenewable energy sources cannot replenish in a short period of time. Some of the most common sources of nonrenewable energy are crude oil (petroleum), coal, natural gas, and uranium ore.

Positives:
  • Mainstream availability
  • Manageable price point
  • Promoted, endorsed and subsidized by the US Government

Negatives:

  • Environmentally and socially costly
  • Limited supply
  • Reliance on foreign providers
  • Influences national & international security
  • Major contributor to greenhouse gases which are proven to cause global warming

Solutions:

  • Offer solar electricity systems at reasonable costs to consumers as an incentive through government subsidies or private investment groups
  • Reduce use & reliance of nonrenewable energy sources by investing in and promoting the development of renewable energy sources.
  • Continue to increase the ratio of renewable to nonrenewable usage by investing in: more renewable energy farms, more consumer awareness, more accessibility, and more advanced capture/storage technology.
